Xiaomi has reportedly been working on its next-gen foldables for some time now. The company will introduce the Mix Fold 4 this year, an upgrade to the Mix Fold 3 introduced in 2023. Leaker Digital Chat Session has shared some information about these upcoming smartphones through a Weibo post today. According to the source, Xiaomi can launch Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip in the third quarter of 2024.

Expected specifications of the Xiaomi foldable phone

Both the upcoming foldables from Xiaomi have similar camera specifications. The upcoming smartphone will have a 50-megapixel primary sensor with 1/1.55” sensing area and optical image stabilization. This will be accompanied by an Omnivision OV60A with a ½.8” sensor for the 2x telephoto camera. Apart from this, the Mix Fold 4 will also have a 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

The tipster says that the smartphone will have wireless charging support. However, the actual battery size and charging speed are not known. DCS says that the upcoming phone will also get water protection. This will be a big step, as so far none of Xiaomi’s foldable phones have any kind of protection against water or splashes. The source also hints at a much slimmer profile for the foldable, making it one of the slimmest in the market when it is released. According to other rumours, the Mix Fold 4 and Mix Flip will have Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. The upcoming phones will support satellite connectivity.
