Lava Pixel V2 Review

in the Indian smartphone market Lava It may not be as big as Samsung, Micromax and Intex but it has certainly caught the attention of the customers and today it is an important phone manufacturer. This Noida based company has maintained its hold in the market by constantly launching new and budget priced products.

today we Lava Pixel V2 We will review the Pixel V2. Launched in September last year, the company introduced the Pixel V2 as a mid-range camera smartphone. This smartphone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with front and rear flash. Know what shortcomings and advantages we saw in this phone in our Lava Pixel V2 review.

Look and design
Lava Pixel V2 looks sharp, simple and straightforward. The phone has strong edges and looks like a ceramic and metal body. However, a closer look reveals that the rear and sides of the phone are made of plastic but look more premium. The phone doesn’t look too bad, but we do see some minor flaws in it.

The front of the phone is plain and the phone is difficult to hold. There is no way to hold the phone comfortably and the speaker grill is placed awkwardly. The Pixel V2 doesn’t look bad by any means, but it isn’t very pretty either.

The phone has power and volume buttons on the right side while the USB port is on the bottom. The 3.5mm jack is given on the top. The single speaker grill is given just below the Lava logo on the rear. The camera and flash are given on the top left side of the rear. The SIM tray and microSD slot can be seen by removing the rear panel. The phone’s battery can also be seen but it is not removable.

Pixel V2 has a 5-inch IPS-LCD panel with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The display is sharp but it is not very bright and detailed. The color reproduction and tone in the display are also not very good. Capacitive Android buttons are given at the bottom.

Specifications and software
Considering the price of the Lava Pixel V2 smartphone, its specifications can be said to be a little less. This phone has a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor running at 1 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The phone’s 16 GB internal storage can be expanded up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card. The phone comes with dual SIM support and has separate slots for two SIM cards and one micro SIM card. Both SIM slots support India’s 4G bands on India 4G connectivity.

The V2 smartphone has a 2500mAh non-user-removable lithium polymer battery. A 5W charger comes with the phone.

Pixel V2 runs on Android 5.1 with Lava’s Star OS 2.0 layered on top. It has a dual-layered interface with an app drawer and a lot of customization options for visual effects. Apart from wallpaper, you can change the general look and UI of the phone from icons to other effects through three themes. Apart from this, screen switch effects for apps and home screen can also be changed.

However, you will face many problems while setting up the phone as per your convenience. The old menu button has been used in the phone instead of the task switcher. For this, you have to press the home button for a long time. Changing and removing the home screen of the phone is also not easy. Some quick launches given in the phone work well but overall we found its software to be very ordinary.

Camera
Lava Pixel V2 has been introduced in the market as a camera phone. It is claimed that its 13 megapixel camera equipped with dual LED flash can take excellent pictures. The phone also has an 8 megapixel secondary camera for selfies with flash. But the maximum video that can be recorded from the rear camera is 720p, while the maximum video that can be recorded from the front camera is 480p.

The phone’s camera app is good and easy to use. You have a two button process to record videos. The camera switcher and flash are easily accessible along with other modes. You can use options like manual settings and resolution control by going to the settings menu. The camera also has many modes like panorama, HDR.

But the quality of the pictures taken from the rear camera of the phone is average. The pictures are not as great as expected. The color and brightness in the pictures can be called satisfactory. The detailing of the pictures taken from a phone of this price is also fine but cannot be called great. The pictures taken indoors looked quite good. But the ones taken in daylight could have been better. The pictures taken from the front camera are also good as per the price of the phone.

Performance
The MediaTek MT6735 processor in the Lava Pixel V2 sometimes works very slow, especially when working on multiple apps simultaneously. The phone works well during light games and internet usage. So the performance of the phone is good as per the price.

During the benchmark test, we got similar figures as the devices running on this processor.

The phone comes with 4G support and works great on 4G and Wi-Fi. Call quality and sound quality with headphones are also good. The single speaker is small and weak. Battery life is decent and in our video loop test, the battery lasted for 8 hours and 11 minutes. However, even during normal use, the phone’s battery drains quickly (especially on 4G networks) and it needs to be charged by the evening.

Our verdict
Lava Pixel V2 is a simple smartphone at a low price. The look of the phone is not bad. It supports 4G and the camera is also fine. Different types of pictures can be taken by shooting in various modes with the camera along with front flash.

However, this phone cannot be called completely perfect. The phone has many shortcomings with average performance, poor battery life, average photo and video quality and outdated UI. But if you are a normal smartphone user and want a good camera then Lava Pixel V2 is for you. However, for users who want a more powerful and specification-rich phone, Yu Yuphoria is a better option.
