According to a report by MyDrivers AccordingHuawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed the upcoming launch of the foldable. The report says that Yu told an executive while taking delivery of its Hongmeng Zhixing EV in Shanghai that the foldable device he has been showcasing for the past few weeks will be introduced in September this year.
This information may come as a bit of a surprise as most smartphone makers are still perfecting their book-style foldables. Meanwhile, Google finally launched its first globally available foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Huawei has been on top of the foldables game lately as it prepares to launch book-style foldables that are slim and compete with regular flagship phones in terms of weight. The upcoming Honor Magic V3 is expected to break most records in terms of slimness and weight.
Talking about the Tri-Fold seen in the CEO’s hands in several blurry spy shots, when folded, it looks a bit thicker than most book-style foldables. However, due to its two hinges, it seems to open into a large tablet-like device. According to previous leaks, this display is said to be as big as 10 inches.
Huawei recently launched its Honor Magic V3 in China which is the slimmest production foldable currently available. If anything, the global version is expected to be very similar with minor changes. The smartphone is just 9.2mm slim when folded and 4.35mm slim when unfolded. It also weighs 226 grams and is slightly heavier than the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, which weighs 221 grams.
