A device from HMD codenamed ‘Tomcat’ has been spotted on Geekbench List has been done. The listing suggests that the upcoming smartphone will get an 8-core CPU, which will be a chipset equipped with 4+4 core clusters. In this, the base frequency of both the clusters will be 1.95 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz. A chipset with similar specifications has also been seen in the Geekbench listing of Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, which was launched last year with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset comes equipped with 4x Cortex-A78 and 4 x Cortex-A55 cores. For graphics, it has Adreno 710 GPU. This chipset of Qualcomm is built on 4nm process. HMD ‘Tomcat’ has scored 965 in single-core and 2625 in multi-core in Geekbench benchmark library.
It appears that HMD is preparing to compete with smartphones like Poco X6 and Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G present in the market.
The device was tested on Geekbench with Android 14 and 8GB of RAM. Apart from this, no other information was given in the listing. We expect more leaks to surface in the coming time.
Apart from this, let us tell you that HMD entered the market last month with the Pulse smartphone series under its own brand name. This series includes HMD Pulse, Pulse Pro and Pulse +. All three smartphones run on Android 14 out of the box. They have Unisoc T606 chipset.
The price of HMD Pulse is 140 Euros (approximately Rs 12,460). At the same time, HMD Pulse + has been launched at 160 Euros (approximately Rs 14,240), while the price of the most expensive Pulse Pro is 180 Euros (approximately Rs 16,000).
