First look of Moto M

Lenovo on Tuesday launched its upper-mid-range smartphone Moto M in India. The company is describing the biggest feature of this smartphone as its metal body. Apart from this, the phone looks good due to the curved edges. There is no feature in the phone which is very big in itself like the front camera or battery. The screen, battery and camera capabilities have been given in a very balanced way in this smartphone. We spent some time with this phone at the company’s launch event. Know how we liked this phone at first glance.

This smartphone certainly looks better than Moto’s previous plastic phones. These include smartphones of the G and X series but the design of the Moto M looks similar to other smartphones, especially smartphones of HTC’s One range. The phone is curved at many places but the special thing is that it does not slip from the hand. Moto M is only 7.85 mm thin and feels comfortable to hold with one hand. Overall, the build quality of the phone is good. The phone comes with a ‘nano coating’ for water protection, so that it will not be damaged in case of any kind of liquid falling on it. But the company has not promoted this phone as waterproof.

The phone has a 5.5-inch Full HD crisp display and Dolby Atmos sound is provided in the phone for better sound. This is the first phone from Moto that comes with Dolby Atmos but before this, this technology has been provided in many Lenovo smartphones. We got to demo Atmos in the short time we spent with the unit and we liked both the screen and the speakers. We will give our final verdict on the quality of indoor and outdoor photos taken with the Moto M camera only after our detailed review.

The phone has power and volume buttons on the right side and a fingerprint sensor on the rear. There is a camera and flash above this sensor. The battery is non-removable and has a capacity of 3050 mAh. The phone supports fast charging. The phone supports two nano SIMs but this phone has a hybrid tray which means you will be able to use two SIMs simultaneously or one SIM and one microSD card.

The phone has a 16-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus while the front camera is 8 megapixels. The phone’s camera app also has a selfie beautification mode. The Moto M is powered by a 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P15 processor. The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow without any modifications.
