Realme 6 was launched earlier this year. I was very impressed with its price and performance. But its ‘value for money’ tag did not last long. Because after the change in GST rates, the prices of the phone were increased. Now the company’s new offering Realme 6i This is very similar to the price of the old Realme 6. The Realme 6i can be considered a slightly weaker version of the Realme 6 (Review). There are also many similarities between the two.
Realme The design of the 6i is quite similar to that of the Realme 6. The physical dimensions of both phones are the same. But you will never get confused between the two phones. The Realme 6i comes only in single tone finishes known as Lunar White and Eclipse Black. There are several streaks on the back. But they are visible only when light bounces at the right angle. I got the Eclipse Black unit which gets fingerprints easily. Realme has used a matte finish on the frame which gives a good feel in the hand.
Both smartphones have a 6.5-inch display. The interesting thing is that even in the cheaper handset, the company has provided a 90 Hz refresh rate. This is the only feature that sets Realme 6i apart from the crowd. The selfie camera has been placed on the top left side of the screen. The company has used Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on it.
Realme 6i also has a fingerprint sensor on the edge, while the volume buttons are on the left. There is no problem with their placement. There is no problem in reaching them even when using the phone with one hand. There is no complaint about the position of the fingerprint scanner and it unlocks the phone very quickly. The size of the display is such that there is no problem in using the phone with one hand.
The SIM tray is placed on the left side, just above the volume buttons. It has three slots – two for nano SIMs and one for a microSD card. At the bottom is the 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, speaker and USB Type-C port. The Realme 6i is 8.9mm thick and has a 4,300mAh battery like the Realme 6. However, it does not come with a 30W bundled charger like the Realme 6. You will get a 20W charger.
There is a capsule-shaped camera module on the back, which has become the identity of Realme smartphones. This setup is slightly raised, but the metal rim on the edge will ensure the safety of the camera lens. Realme 6i has a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra wide angle camera, a 2-megapixel portrait camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
MediaTek Helio G90T processor is also given in Realme 6. This is a very powerful processor. During the testing of Realme 6, I liked its performance. Realme 6i will get 4 GB or 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage with Helio G90T. Storage can be increased up to 256 GB through a separate microSD card slot. Realme has priced the starting variant of this phone at Rs 12,999 and the top model at Rs 14,999.
Realme 6i comes with Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 out of the box. The company has given the June security patch in our review unit. Many unwanted apps were already present in the phone. In the short time I spent with the smartphone, I never felt lag. But we will discuss this in detail during the review.
In my opinion, Realme has launched Realme 6i at the right time. It is very similar to Realme 6, which is considered a good thing. The specifications are a bit weak. But the price has also come down. It seems that Realme 6i will be liked by those who are looking for performance on a budget. Should it be your first choice? Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 Hindi for this. We will soon come up with a detailed review of Realme 6i.
