Apple in Huge Pressure in China, iPhone sales dropped by 19 Percent

American devices maker Apple has suffered a major setback. The company’s sales in China have fallen by almost 19 percent in the first quarter of this year. Due to this, the company’s market share in China has fallen to 15.7 percent. Vivo is in the first place in this market and Honor is in the second place.

In China, government employees were banned from using Apple devices. This is a major reason for the company’s falling sales. Apart from this, Apple is also facing a tough challenge from Huawei. Huawei’s market share has increased to 15.5 percent. Apple also gave a discount on iPhones in China but despite this, its sales have decreased.

Apple’s mixed reality headset Vision Pro will soon be launched in China. Its sale started in the US in February. The company plans to make it available in many countries. Apple’s Chief Executive, Tim Cook, said during the China Development Forum that Vision Pro will be launched in China this year. He said that the company plans to continue investing in research and development in China. Its price starts at $ 3,499 for the base variant with 256 GB storage. Its 512 GB variant is priced at $ 3,699 and 1 TB is priced at $ 3,899. It has an external battery pack that connects via a cable. Vision Pro has six microphones, two primary cameras, six secondary (tracking) cameras, four cameras for eye tracking, a LiDAR scanner and six other sensors.

In the last financial year, the company has manufactured iPhones worth $14 billion in India. About 67 percent of the iPhones made in the country are assembled by Apple’s supplier Foxconn and about 17 percent by Pegatron. The manufacturing and sales of iPhones in the country have grown rapidly in the last few years. Tata Group’s plant in Karnataka also has a share in the manufacturing of iPhones. Last year, Tata Group took over this plant from Wistron. Apple has employed more than 1.5 lakh people in India after participating in the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. Most of these people are between 19 and 24 years of age.
